“Chicken or turkey mince is superior in protein content but has a lower fat amount. It is beneficial for dietary nutrition; however, dishes prepared from it may have a rather dry texture, which can make them less tasty. By adding, for instance, pork mince, which has a higher fat percentage, one can achieve better flavor while maintaining a sufficient amount of protein,” added Kaloshina.

The expert reminded that beef and pork minces are nearly identical in their content of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. The doctor emphasized that red mince contains essential heme iron, which is almost absent in poultry mince.

“For individuals with anemia, it is preferable to choose red mince. If, for any reason, the taste of red mince is not appealing, it can be mixed with poultry mince, thereby preserving the content of this essential trace element,” stated Kaloshina.

The endocrinologist explained that different types of mince complement each other in terms of vitamins and minerals. For example, chicken mince is rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B5, potassium, and phosphorus, noted Kaloshina. In contrast, pork mince is abundant in vitamins B1, B2, and selenium. Additionally, red mince has a higher content of vitamins B12 and PP, the expert concluded.
