The Trade Committee clarified that the price of eggs within the country primarily depends on the volume of supplied products.
Representatives of the agency explained that various factors influence price formation. For instance, small wholesale deliveries for convenience stores significantly differ from large wholesale supplies from poultry farms aimed at market distribution.
It was also noted that large retail chains often enter into long-term contracts with producers, which also affects prices.
On average, a dozen eggs costs 540 tenge in Kazakhstan. The most expensive eggs are sold in Astana, where their price reaches up to 609 tenge per dozen. The lowest price is recorded in Petropavlovsk at 462 tenge. In Almaty, a dozen eggs can be purchased for around 600 tenge.
The committee also added that there are three categories of eggs sold in the country — C0, C1, and C2, which differ in weight.
Eggs of the first category have been included in the list of socially significant food products because they are in high demand among residents.
