More than 2,100 children have taken free flights across Kazakhstan under the Kids Go Free program, reports the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of the Committee for Tourism Industry.
"In 2024, 2,172 children traveled across Kazakhstan with free airline tickets provided as part of the state program Kids Go Free. Tour operators implemented tours worth 415.6 million tenge, excluding the cost of children's airline tickets. The reimbursement amount from the state reached 114.5 million tenge, which is 28% of the total value of the tours sold. The program actively contributes to the development of domestic tourism and the promotion of family travel. It has opened up opportunities for Kazakh families to explore the most beautiful and interesting corners of the country," reports the KTI.
Lake Alakol continues to lead among the destinations of the program. In 2024, the number of tours sold increased by 20% compared to last year. More than 700 children traveled to Alakol with free airline tickets.
The surroundings of Almaty and the Almaty region showed a 24% increase in popularity. This year, over 330 families chose this destination. The reimbursement for children's airline tickets amounted to 41.6 million tenge, while the total value of the tours sold reached 135.3 million tenge.
The Shchuchinsk-Borovoye resort area and Astana became the third most popular choice for family travel. There is high demand here both in the summer and during the winter holidays.
It should be noted that in 2023, the program was utilized by 1,975 children within the framework of 920 tours.
