Citizens of Kazakhstan can prohibit themselves from participating in gambling and betting through the eGov Mobile app for a period of 10 years, according to the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of JSC "National Information Technologies".
As explained by the company "National Information Technologies", previously users could choose a ban period ranging from 6 to 12 months, but now the maximum duration for self-imposed restrictions on gambling and betting can be up to 10 years.
“This service significantly reduces the processing time for applications and simplifies the process of establishing a self-imposed ban on gambling participation. It provides any citizen with the opportunity to restrict access to all licensed gaming sites and online bookmaker platforms. It is important to emphasize that this service is available exclusively for individuals over the age of 21,” the NIT emphasized.
To access the service, you need to:
- log in to the eGov Mobile app and go to the "Services" → "Sports" tab;
- select “Service for limiting participation in gambling and/or betting”;
- specify the year and month when the restriction ends, then click “Order service”;
- sign the application using a quick access code, Face ID/Touch ID.
After submitting the application, the user is automatically added to the list of individuals restricted from participating in gambling, with no option to withdraw the application. For those who have previously imposed restrictions, a function to extend the duration of the ban is available. Upon resubmitting the application, the system will notify the user of the current status of the restriction and offer to extend it.
