The Akim of the Mangystau region, Nurdaulat Kilybay, is on site at the plane crash location near Aktau, reports a correspondent from the Kapital.kz business information center, citing the press service of the akimat.
"The regional head has been briefed on the details of the incident and the progress of the rescue operations. Furthermore, the akim of the region has issued relevant instructions to the competent authorities and emphasized that all measures taken will be under his personal control," the information states.
As reported, a plane has crashed near Aktau. A total of 52 personnel and 11 units of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan have arrived at the crash site.
The Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan announced that a passenger plane operating the "Baku-Grozny" route has crashed. The aircraft belongs to Azerbaijan Airlines.
As of 12:28, the fire has been completely extinguished by the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Medical personnel and psychologists are currently working at the scene. According to preliminary information from the Azerbaijani side, there were 62 passengers and 5 crew members on board, as reported by the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.
