The head of state met with the chairman of the Senate of Parliament, Maulen Ashimbayev, as reported by the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of Akorda.
During the meeting, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was briefed on the current activities and plans of the Senate for the upcoming period.
Maulen Ashimbayev shared that since the beginning of the third session, the Parliament has adopted 28 laws, 5 of which were initiated by the deputies. In particular, a number of laws were enacted to implement the messages and directives of the head of state concerning housing policy, education, child protection rights, the educational savings system, stock trading, entrepreneurship, the judicial system, and combating illegal drug trafficking.
Currently, the Parliament is reviewing bills initiated by senators that regulate the protection of labor rights for workers, creative industries, forestry, and specially protected natural areas.
It was noted that since the beginning of the year, the Senate has conducted about 50 events, sent 67 deputy inquiries to the government, and held more than 40 international meetings within the framework of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Plans for next year include reviewing the Budget, Construction, Water, and Tax Codes, as well as the laws "On the Special Status of the City of Turkestan" and "On the Protection of Consumer Rights." Parliamentary hearings dedicated to the Year of Working Professions are also planned.
Additionally, the Senate chairman presented information on the work of the parliamentary commission monitoring the implementation of national goals and objectives in sustainable development in Kazakhstan, established at the president's directive.
As noted by Maulen Ashimbayev, one of the Senate's priorities is to implement the tasks set by the head of state for further regional development. In this regard, the chamber has intensified collaboration with the deputies of the maslikhats.
The speaker also informed Kassym-Jomart Tokayev about the preparations for the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, scheduled for September 2025.
