In Almaty, 45,000 surveillance cameras have already been connected to the Unified Video Monitoring System (EVSM), reports a correspondent from the Kapital.kz business information center, citing data from the city's Digitalization Department.
The primary objective of the EVSM project is to consolidate all city surveillance cameras onto a single platform to facilitate real-time video analytics and the reusable utilization of the obtained video streams.
"Video analytics are generated based on the recognition of smoke, fire, abandoned items, emergency events of both natural and man-made origins, as well as the identification of clothing, gender, and faces, etc. Currently, efforts are underway to integrate video streams from 603 public and 906 private facilities into the EVSM," the department reported.
In the second quarter of 2024, an additional 300 hardware-software complexes of the intelligent security system "Sergék" will be installed.
As of now, 1,641 "Sergék" complexes are operational in the city, comprising 9,034 cameras.
Recall that at the beginning of the year, during a working visit to Almaty, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev inspected the city's Situational Center, which allows for real-time information about the megacity's activities. Akim Erbolat Dosaev informed the head of state that the center will be an effective tool for making quality decisions based on Big Data analysis and implementing the Open Data concept. "Artificial intelligence should contribute to improving the welfare of citizens, particularly the residents of Almaty. Therefore, I support your plans to implement artificial intelligence tools. This is the first point. Secondly, special attention must be paid to the city's transportation situation. This is evident to the naked eye. It is a highly relevant issue. Here, artificial intelligence should play its role. And, of course, safety. Safety must come first," said the leader of Kazakhstan.
