Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, during a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission for the Prevention of Offenses under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, heard a report from Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbaev regarding the activities of the Government Commission at the site of the plane crash near Aktau, as reported by Primeminister.kz.
Rescue services have completed their search operations. A total of 29 people have been hospitalized, while 38 individuals lost their lives due to the plane crash. Necessary examinations have been conducted for all the victims. Once their conditions stabilized, the patients were admitted to specialized facilities and are receiving comprehensive treatment. Additionally, highly qualified specialists from the National Center for Emergency Medicine and leading republican centers have arrived from Astana via air ambulance. Alongside Kazakh specialists, a special flight from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation and a medical air team from the Republic of Azerbaijan have also arrived. Relatives of the victims and the injured are arriving, and the regional akimat is providing them with necessary assistance regarding transportation, accommodation, and meals. Psychological support teams are also in operation.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport is collaborating with the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Tomorrow, the aviation authorities from Brazil and the company Embraer 190 are expected to arrive. A local-scale emergency situation of a technological nature is currently in effect in the Tupkaragan district.
Following the directive of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, comprehensive medical assistance is being provided to the victims, and necessary support measures are being extended to the relatives of the deceased. Hotlines are operational, receiving over a thousand calls.
“First and foremost, I express my condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased. The Government of Kazakhstan and authorized bodies are providing all necessary support to the victims and the families of those who perished,” noted Olzhas Bektenov.
Furthermore, the head of the government issued several directives to enhance aviation safety.
“This tragic event indicates that we also need to take certain measures regarding flight safety. First and foremost, an unscheduled review must be conducted, and the technical condition of airports and aircraft should be closely monitored. As part of ongoing activities, it is essential to re-evaluate the qualifications, certifications, and competencies of the flight crews of our airlines. To ensure prompt responses to aviation incidents, the mechanism for emergency rescue operations needs to be improved, and coordinated efforts among relevant state authorities must be established. From this situation, we must draw the right conclusions and develop specific recommendations to prevent similar occurrences in the future,” emphasized the Prime Minister.
