Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs has established a Cybercrime Prevention Department.

As noted by the agency, this initiative is aimed at protecting citizens' interests against the growing threats in the field of combating cybercrime.

The department will focus on identifying and investigating cybercrimes, as well as developing strategic measures to combat them.

"In the context of rapid technological advancement and an increase in internet threats, the establishment of a specialized unit will allow for a more effective response to contemporary challenges," emphasized Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov.

Additionally, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs introduced the personnel to the new department head, Police Colonel Zhandos Süyinbay, who has significant experience in this field.

Recently, the head of the Information Security Committee, Ruslan Abdiqalyqov, discussed modern cybercrime.

"Modern cybercrime is not about a lone hacker sitting at night in a hoodie doing something on a computer. It's absolutely not like that. These are powerful organizations with budgets comparable to the GDP of Kazakhstan. Each group has its own role and they know nothing about each other... They can only work together through intermediaries… Therefore, I understand the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies," he noted.
