"I listened to your report filled with 'we propose', 'we will do', 'we will launch'… and the further out the deadline, the more appealing the numbers become.
Unfortunately, I do not share your optimism: the state of the railway infrastructure is appalling - 61% of locomotives are worn out.
We are foolishly losing the skies above the republic to neighboring countries. Such global giants as Lufthansa and KLM have long left us in favor of our monopolists - Air Astana and SCAT. Yet, we can boast that we have the most delayed airlines, which do not apologize, and the most expensive low-cost carrier," - stated Deputy Sergey Ponomarev.
He also mentioned that "in the last 10 years, only one road has been built on time and without an increase in the initial cost - that is BAKAD, and only because it was constructed by foreigners." According to him, "domestic companies are held back by 'Kazavtozhol', project costs are inflated, and deadlines are endlessly extended."
Let us remind you that starting from October 1, ticket prices for trains in Kazakhstan have been increased, which was explained by the economic situation.
In early August, the Ministry of Transport attributed the price changes to, among other things, the need to update the rolling stock.
The agency noted that the passenger car fleet consists of 2,667 units, with a wear rate of 44%. The update of the rolling stock is being carried out by both private and national carriers.
Regarding airline flights, a week ago, Mazhilis Deputy Bakytzhan Bazarbek emphasized the need to tighten penalties against airlines whose flights are constantly delayed or rescheduled. Bazarbek expressed outrage at the inaction of relevant state agencies on this issue.
In August, it was reported that the Civil Aviation Committee and the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan would conduct an inspection of the activities of Air Astana and FlyArystan due to the increased cases of flight delays for technical reasons and a large number of complaints regarding passenger rights violations.
Also in August, the Minister of Transport announced that in Kazakhstan, top executives of airlines and airports would be penalized for flight delays.
Additionally, on December 20, Almaty Airport suspended the acceptance of flights due to bad weather. Air Astana urged passengers to check the flight status on their website before heading to the airport.
