"In light of the escalating situation in the Middle East, under the directive of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and with the assistance of the relevant state agencies of Kazakhstan, citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan and their family members have been evacuated from Lebanon.
This operation was carried out through the cities of Istanbul and Dubai, resulting in the successful return of 41 individuals from Beirut to Astana and Almaty between October 17 and 31, 2024 ", - stated in the message from the agency on their Telegram channel.
It is noted that the evacuation was conducted to protect the rights and interests of Kazakhstani citizens caught in the combat zone.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan provided information about the situation concerning Kazakh peacekeepers in Lebanon following the UN's statement that the IDF had infiltrated the positions of the peacekeeping contingent in the southern part of the country.
It is worth recalling that hostilities in the area of the "Blue Line" intensified a year ago. The escalation began after attacks led by Hamas resulted in the deaths of over 1,000 people in Israel, with an additional 250 taken hostage in Gaza.
The subsequent war in the enclave has led to a humanitarian crisis. As of October 1, nearly 42,000 people have died in Gaza, including over 200 humanitarian workers and nearly 200 journalists.
On September 30 of this year, the Israel Defense Forces notified UNIFIL of their intention to undertake a limited ground incursion into Lebanon.
In October, reports indicated that at least 21 individuals were killed as a result of an Israeli airstrike in northern Lebanon.
In mid-October, as reported by the Russian service of the BBC, the IDF attacked targets in Beirut, southern Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley. The strikes were aimed at branches of the alternative banking system "Al-Qard Al-Hassan Association," which, according to Israel and the United States, is managed by Hezbollah to fund its operations. It has over 30 branches throughout Lebanon, including 15 in densely populated areas of central Beirut and its suburbs.
According to satellite radar data obtained by the BBC, Israel's bombing campaign in Lebanon over two weeks caused more damage to buildings than a year of border clashes with Hezbollah.
Based on this data, from October 2 to 14, 2024, more than 3,600 buildings in Lebanon were damaged or destroyed, accounting for approximately 54% of the total damage since the onset of cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah a day after the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023.
Additionally, as a result of a series of Israeli strikes on buildings in southern Beirut on September 27, the leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, was killed.
