"Currently, the deputies have unanimously criticized the activities of Air Astana. To be honest, this airline has become a deity in our skies. Tickets are expensive, and all your explanations about distances are empty talk. Why do ticket prices rise as the departure date approaches? They should decrease instead of increasing! You need to sell them faster, right? But they operate in the opposite manner. The activities of this airline and the low-cost carrier FlyArystan need to be investigated.
Mr. Foster, look where you are! You must adhere to the laws of our country, protect the rights of Kazakhstanis, and create favorable conditions here. Everyone loves money, but you shouldn't raise ticket prices like this. You don’t increase salaries every day, fuel prices don’t rise daily, and our territory isn’t expanding; it’s not elastic. Yet you keep raising prices - they reach from 60 to 120 thousand. This is unacceptable! There must be order," - declared the deputy.
At that moment, Peter Foster appeared on the screens - he was smiling at the remarks of the deputy.
"Don’t laugh! This is not funny. Do you not consider us as people?! We are not some clueless natives in Africa. Don’t play games with us, and there’s no need to laugh in our faces! This is parliament! We are representatives of the people, we are elected deputies," - stated Zhanbyrshin.
Earlier, deputy Bakytzhan Bazarbek emphasized the need for stricter penalties against airlines whose flights are consistently delayed or rescheduled. This same deputy also raised concerns about the non-refundable nature of airline tickets for certain flights in Kazakhstan, which is causing discontent among citizens.
Bazarbek had previously also expressed his views on the airline's performance. On social media, he mentioned that his flight, scheduled for 7 AM, was delayed by 9 hours. Air Astana commented on the situation.
We also reported that a deputy complained about missing her Air Astana flight. Majeelismen Irina Smirnova stated on her Facebook page that her flight from Almaty to Astana departed earlier than the scheduled 7 AM. The airline responded to the incident and apologized to Smirnova, promising to investigate why the flight rescheduling notification was not delivered.
Additionally, a letter addressed to the head of Air Astana, Peter Foster, was published online , demanding apologies from him and his staff for their rude behavior towards the People's Artist Bibigul Tulegenova.
It was also reported that Kazakhstanis once again complained about one of Air Astana's flights - this time, passengers were unable to depart on time from Aktau to Almaty and had to wait for over 12 hours.
Later, it became known that the Civil Aviation Committee and the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan would conduct an inspection of the activities of Air Astana and FlyArystan.
