"We're not locals": Deputy Zhanbyrshin clarified his criticism of the Air Astana CEO.

"We're not locals": Deputy Zhanbyrshin clarified his criticism of the Air Astana CEO.

"I smile when I talk to a person and we have a good conversation - there are no problems... but when the criticism comes not from me but from other deputies, and there is such a dismissive attitude - I find that unacceptable. We must know where he sits.

We will address this at the legislative level (to improve conditions for air passengers - ed.) systematically. Together with Deputy Musabaev, we introduced compensation for flight delays for the first time. 3% for every hour of delay. This affects everyone. Our passengers are already using this mechanism. I have personally benefited from it.

They should improve, rather than engage in manipulation or conduct some PR campaigns on social media regarding deputies who spoke out with criticism yesterday," - stated Zhanbyrshin.

He added that airlines must enhance their quality and adhere to all their conditions to provide quality service to Kazakhstanis.

"As for legislative changes: I have instructed my staff, and we will improve laws regarding passenger transportation," - added the deputy.

Recall that on December 23, Mazhilis deputy Edil Zhanbyrshin criticized the activities of Air Astana during the "government hour." According to him, ticket prices increase year after year.

During the deputy's speech, Peter Foster appeared on the screens - he smiled at the remarks of the Mazhilis member.

"Don't laugh! This is not funny. Do you not consider us as people?! We are not some aborigines in Africa, who understand nothing. Don't play with us, and you also shouldn't laugh in our faces! This is parliament! We are representatives of the people, we are deputies elected by the people," - declared Zhanbyrshin.

Earlier, Mazhilis deputy Bakytzhan Bazarbek stated the need for stricter penalties for airlines whose flights are constantly delayed or canceled. This same deputy also raised the issue of the non-refundable nature of tickets for certain flights in Kazakhstan, which causes discontent among citizens.

Bazarbek had previously expressed his views on the airline's operations. On social media, he mentioned that his flight, scheduled for 7 AM, was delayed by 9 hours. Air Astana commented on the situation.

We also reported that a deputy complained about missing her Air Astana flight. Mazhilis member Irina Smirnova stated on her Facebook page that her flight from Almaty to Astana left earlier than scheduled at 7 AM. The airline responded to the incident and apologized to Smirnova, promising to investigate why the notification about the flight change was not delivered.
