During the meeting, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was briefed on the current activities and plans of the Senate for the upcoming period.
Maulen Ashimbayev reported that since the beginning of the third session, the Parliament has passed 28 laws, 5 of which were initiated by deputies. In particular, several laws were adopted in line with the implementation of the messages and directives of the Head of State regarding housing policy, education and child protection, the educational savings system, stock trading and entrepreneurship, the judicial system, and combating the illegal drug trade.
Currently, the Parliament is reviewing legislative proposals initiated by senators that regulate the protection of labor rights, creative industries, forestry, and specially protected natural areas.
It was noted that since the beginning of the year, the Senate has conducted around 50 events, sent 67 parliamentary inquiries to the Government, and held over 40 international meetings as part of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Plans for the next year include reviewing the Budget, Construction, Water, and Tax Codes, as well as the laws "On the Special Status of the City of Turkestan" and "On Consumer Rights Protection." Parliamentary hearings dedicated to the Year of Skilled Professions are also scheduled.
Additionally, the Chairman of the Senate presented information about the work of the Parliamentary Commission monitoring the implementation of national goals and objectives in the field of sustainable development in Kazakhstan, established at the President's request.
As noted by Maulen Ashimbayev, one of the Senate's priorities is the implementation of the tasks set by the Head of State for the further development of regions. In this regard, the Chamber has intensified its collaboration with deputies of the maslikhats.
The Speaker also informed Kassym-Jomart Tokayev about the preparations for the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, scheduled for September 2025.
