Tablet sales worldwide increased by 20.4% in the third quarter.

The steady growth can be attributed, in part, to a low comparison base, considering the weak performance in 2023. IDC also notes an increase in market optimism due to the release of new models by several companies, as well as the replenishment of supply channels ahead of the holiday season.

Moscow, November 2. - Global sales of tablet computers in the third quarter of 2024 rose by 20.4% year-on-year, reaching 39.6 million units, according to preliminary data from research firm IDC.

This robust growth is largely attributed to a low comparison base, considering the weak performance in 2023. IDC also notes a growing optimism in the market due to the release of new models by several companies and the replenishment of supply channels ahead of the holiday season.

IDC experts highlight that tablet manufacturers are increasingly integrating AI solutions into their devices. However, these solutions, aside from the Co-Pilot+ AI assistant in Surface tablets, are at best in the early stages of development.

"Nevertheless, innovations are bringing much-needed optimism to the tablet market, sparking consumer interest and possibly contributing to a rise in prices," the report states.
