The Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry, Jaslan Madiyev, announced the average monthly salary of IT specialists in Kazakhstan during a government meeting, as reported by a correspondent from the Kapital.kz business information center.
“Active work is underway to develop the IT sector. This includes infrastructure development, human capital enhancement, creating favorable conditions for fostering an innovative environment, and increasing venture capital. In 2024, the IT sector in Kazakhstan continued its dynamic growth. The number of IT companies reached 18,683, marking a 16% increase over the past three years,” he noted.
During the same period, the average monthly salary of IT specialists rose by 54%, reaching 673,000 tenge. This reflects the high demand for skilled personnel and competitive working conditions.
“Employment in the IT field increased by 12%, reaching 187,000 individuals. The international technology park Astana Hub was launched in 2018. Today, Astana Hub demonstrates impressive growth, confirming its role as a center for the development of IT startups in Kazakhstan. The technopark has united over 1,500 participants, including 1,102 local and 437 foreign companies,” Jaslan Madiyev specified.
The total revenue of the participants amounted to 1.2 trillion tenge, representing a 31-fold increase over the past five years. Export revenue for the first three quarters of this year reached 143 billion tenge, with annual growth exceeding tenfold over four years.
“Thus, Astana Hub continues to strengthen its position as the leading technopark in the region. The development of regional hubs has become a key element of our innovative ecosystem. Currently, there are 17 regional IT hubs operating across the country. They actively contribute to the growth of local startups and entrepreneurship. All programs for the development of startups and the IT industry are accessible to regional IT hubs. By the end of the year, another hub is planned to be connected in Petropavlovsk,” the minister highlighted.
Regional hubs are becoming an important driver for the development of the IT industry in Kazakhstan. This fosters talent discovery and the creation of a robust innovative ecosystem.
“A ‘Single Window’ for the national innovation system has been established. Most government support measures for IT specialists, innovators, and researchers have been outlined here. A mobile application is also available. The portal ensures transparency and efficiency in the distribution of government support measures. Currently, over half a million people use the portal annually. It can be said that the portal has become a single window similar to Egov,” emphasized the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry.
