Telegram is set to establish an office in Kazakhstan, based at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC).

A representative office of the Telegram company will be established at the International Financial Center Astana. This was announced by the Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry, Jaslan Madiyev, during a Senate meeting, as reported by the Kazinform agency.

The messenger's office will be opened as part of the efforts to combat internet fraud.

“We are in the process of establishing a Telegram office at the IFC. A specific individual will be appointed to oversee content moderation. If there is a violation of the law—such as calls for violence or issues related to drug trafficking—Telegram promptly addresses our requests and assists with the blocking and removal of channels,” the minister stated.

Another measure to combat internet fraud will involve returning the number pool to the state. The issuance of numbers through electronic government services using biometrics and limiting the number of SIM cards will help to curb fraudulent activities.

It was previously reported that Telegram would open an office in Kazakhstan without specifying the location.
